So its not just me – the Queen loves Handbag Hangers

“A purse on the floor means money out the door”.

Old wives tale?  Maybe – but what is a fact is that when handbags are put on dirty floors they become carriers for all sorts of nasty germs.

Apparently America’s favorite doctor, Dr. Oz, says that womens handbags are literally buses that transport viruses around, like colds, salmonella and the flu, to name but a few.

The answer to this danger is a handbag hook – I carry 2 in each of my bags – one for me and one for whichever friend I am having lunch with!   Equally useful in the office or in a toilet – the handbag hanger offers a simple solution. Just hook the base on a table, desk or over the toilet door and slip the straps of your handbag over the hook – the heavir the better.

The Queen probably thinks the rest of us are a bit late catching on, seeing that HRH has been carrying hangers in her handbags for years.

According to fashion insiders, the Queen has always known how to treat her luxury bags, and all desks and tables in her various hoems are fitted with purse hooks!

The bag hanger – or as our US colleagues call it – the purse hook has evolved into many shapes and sizes. The classic design comes in a variety of fun or elegant tops that are attached to metal hooks, normally available in silver or gold. Felt or rubber undersides secure it to the table top.

In 2010, other alternatives appeared on the market, including folding hangers.

 

 

 

The folding purse hook features a disc shaped metal plate with felt or rubber backing. The hook section folds around the disc and becomes about the size of a large coin. You can tuck it away in your wallet with your change.

The prices  can run from about £7 to about £20 depending on how blingy you like your accessories.

And if you don’t believe that putting your handbag on the floor is bad luck – think again! Feng shui experts would tell you that a bag or purse on the floor shows a disregard for order, your wealth and your money.
