Watch out ? Watch Out! There’s a Bag thief about!

At the weekend there was yet another story of a handbag being stolen from a supermarket trolley – this time in Morrisons, somewhere in Wales.

Be very careful girls – especially over the Bank Holidays this month. Supermarkets are easy pickings.

They put those very handy little hoops on the trolley just under where you push – so that you can hang your handbag on it rather than struggle trying to keep your bag on your shoulder whilst pushing that confounded trolley (you know – the one that wants to go in the opposite direction to where-ever you have pointed it).

The problem with those little hooks is that when the shop is busy, you might need to leave your trolley a few feet away from the items you want to grab on the aisle. Can you really be bothered to unhook your handbag and take it with you for a few seconds?

Not really.

And that’s when it happens – your attention is distracted – literally for seconds and that’s when the bad thieves strike.

If your bag is open and you are lucky – they might just pick up your purse or your mobile, because in this way you probably won’t notice anything has gone until you get to the till. By that time they are long gone.

If you are really unlucky and especially if your trolley is at or near the end of the aisle – the bad itself might go. End of aisles are easier for quick getaways.

So – don’t think “it won’t happen to me”, because it can happen to anyone – it only takes a second!

Someone should invent an exploding purse which leaves red dye all over anyone if the bag is taken more than a certain distance away from the remote control hanging on your key ring. Perhaps they could rig up an electric shock device. You see how much I love my handbag!! Been watching too much James Bond obviously.

Anyway – be careful – and don’t say I didn’t warn you!
